The Great Wall of China...

Wow, an absolute treat and amazing experience. One of the Seven Wonders of the World. You read about it, you learn about it and see pictures but you most likely never think about it. But, if you ever go, it's something you will never forget. It's history and physical features are astounding. Once you are there it is really a sight and makes you wonder how they built this "Great Wall" of over 4,000 miles long between the 5th and 16th centuries. Some places have steep inclines of up to 75 feet in spurts. It was a task but I made it all the way to the top of a section called Badaling. To top it off it was the best weather day, despite the hazy skies, of the entire week and around 70 degrees. So, here are just a few of the over 100 I took of the Wall. Enjoy.

A dedication to the Olympic Games held in Beijing this summer.

A view from the top...a long journey.

A view through one of the main guard posts.

What a crowd on the way down! Wasn't that crowded on the way up early in the a.m. Can you spot the baby witht he front mullet?

How cool. I would love to go see that. But I think I'd get a little creeped out with that many people there -is it aways that crowded?? That's nuts. I'd push someone over the edge. I'd push over the first adult with a mullett I saw. Then I'd yell "Fire Drill!" and watch everyone run in circles.

Yes, its always crowded and, Deano, we walked about 5 miles to the top. With many sections being 25 feet straight uphill and more. So, that means 10 miles round trip plus add on the hill factor. Still a great time, seemed like 1 mile because you were so juiced up. Carmen, I hear its always that crowded nd it takes a while to go up and back doen if you dont go early.
