College Football Weekend Review

Yesterday, I stated (to a friend of mine) that college football wouldn’t deliver the same entertainment that it did last Saturday. It may have lacked in the quantity of great games, but certainly not in quality.

If you would’ve told me that 41 point underdog Stanford would beat USC, well, I probably would’ve believed you, because I’ve realize USC has been overrated for the past few years, getting past weak opponents on their way to the title games, like UCLGay, who also lost to Notre Lame yesterday.

Tim Tebow and company couldn’t hang onto a 10-point 4th quarter lead, and Les Miles proved that he may have the biggest cojones in the country on his 4th down decisions. There was never a doubt although had HIS PLAYERS not made those plays we would be talking about how stupid he was....but were not. However, I also think Florida got hosed a bit on one of those.

Wisconsin sucks. The oddsmakers knew it, and we all knew it all along. The Big 10 is awful. Maybe Ron Zook wasn’t as awful a coach as everyone thought. After all, Zook’s talent did win a National Championship for Florida last year.

And, Alabama. Yes, they are just not that good this year. The realist in me sees a 6-6 maybe 7-5 season as I expected all along. However, BAMA has two top 10 recruiting classes coming along in the next few years. I knew Auburn was a better team than they showed in their two losses (to 2 pretty good teams -- did I just call MSU a pretty good team?) and they proved it the last two Saturdays with dominating performances. Look for it to continue....

But, Wow, there’s a lot of parity in college football these days.
